What construction and infrastructure buyers need
Project managers, civil and structural engineers, main contractors, developers and procurement teams in this sector tend to be solving for the same concerns:- parts fabricated accurately from structural and architectural drawings, so they fit on site without rework;
- durability matched to the environment: exposure, corrosion, public use, load and long service life;
- consistent, repeatable production where the same component is needed many times;
- safety-critical items (handrails, walkways, access platforms) made and finished properly;
- delivery that supports the build programme rather than delaying it;
- fewer suppliers to coordinate across a busy project.

How TH Steel supports the requirement
TH Steel, established 1977 and based in Penang, brings together the stainless steel fabrication processes a construction or infrastructure package usually requires under one roof:- CNC laser cutting for fast, accurate sheet and plate components.
- Water jet cutting for thicker material and where a heat-affected zone (HAZ) needs to be avoided.
- Plate bending and tube bending for frames, rails, brackets and formed sections.
- Metal forming for shaped and rolled work.
- CNC milling and turning for machined components.
- Precision welding using TIG (GTAW) and MIG (GMAW), with finishing and post-weld treatment for visible and exposed work.
- Project assembly to deliver complete weldments and assemblies rather than loose parts.
Typical fabricated items
Common construction and infrastructure work includes:- handrails, balustrades and guarding;
- access walkways, stairs, ladders and platforms;
- support structures, frames and brackets;
- cladding and panel support systems;
- gratings, covers and drainage components;
- plant and equipment enclosures;
- canopies, screens and architectural metalwork;
- street furniture, signage supports and civic fittings;
- custom weldments and bespoke assemblies to drawing.
Materials, grades, finishes and standards
Grade selection should follow the environment the part has to survive:- 304, the general-purpose austenitic grade, suitable for many indoor and sheltered applications.
- 316 / 316L, molybdenum-bearing, with better resistance to chlorides and salt air, hence common for coastal, bridge and exposed infrastructure work. The low-carbon 316L variant is preferred where welding is involved, as it helps maintain corrosion resistance at the weld.
- 2205 duplex, higher strength with superior resistance to chloride stress-corrosion cracking, specified for more demanding marine and structural use.
